Our Community
The Woods Homeowners Association (WHOA) is comprised of the owners of over 1,200 properties at The Woods, a diverse community nestled in the mountains of West Virginia’s eastern panhandle.  Homes at The Woods range from rustic weekend cabins set among the trees to contemporary year-round homes on a golf course.  WHOA is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, nine homeowners elected by their neighbors to revolving three-year terms.  WHOA has hired Property Management People (PMP) to manage the day to day operations through an onsite  staff consists of a community manager, administrative personnel,  maintenance staff, and a patrol team.  The staff provided by PMP provides support to the community by performing all administrative tasks required by the Association, ensuring adherence to covenants, maintaining and plowing of 20 miles of roads, maintaining common areas, and providing 24-hour patrol coverage for the community.
In case of emergency, call 911 first, and then call pattrol at 304 754-8887.

Backyard Composting

What to do with leaves and yard waste. Have you considered backyard composting?

Information can be found through the Berkeley County Extension Agency,, they sell a compost barrel kit.

An excellent book on composting is

The Rodale Book of Composting,, which would be very helpful for setting up backyard composting. Ideally, this is the preferable way to dispose of leaves and grass without involving fossil fuels and extra labor.

You may want to consult the Master Gardner program through the extension agency for additional help.

Deer Feeding Regulation
Posted on Aug 25th, 2015
A number of homeowners are concerned about the overpopulation of deer within The Woods. One of the concerns was that some homeowners are feeding the deer and did not know that it is illegal to bait or feed deer in Berkeley County. This law is in place in an attempt to control  Chronic Wasting Disease within the West Virginia deer populations.
To read the complete Regulation Summary click here: Chronic Wasting Disease
Several homeowners at the meeting were very concerned because they or their neighbors are suffering with Lyme disease.  Lyme disease is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks (deer ticks). This link provides information about Lyme Disease

Do not feed the deer on your property within The Woods. Not only is it illegal but it is also a health issue.
